"Where's My Refund" is a free IRS tool that lets you track the status of your federal tax refund online or via the IRS2Go app. You'll need your Social Security number, filing status, and exact refund amount. Status updates are available within 24 hours of e-filing or four weeks after mailing a paper return. Most refunds are issued within 21 days of e-filing. If your refund is delayed, the tool will tell you if the IRS needs more information from you.
