A W-2 is a form your employer sends you each January showing your total wages and how much was withheld for federal and state taxes. You use it to file your tax return. If you worked multiple jobs, you'll get a W-2 from each employer. Your W-2 must arrive by January 31 — if it doesn't, contact your employer or the IRS. The numbers on your W-2 determine whether you owe more taxes or get a refund.
