Weddings are joyful occasions and often very expensive ones, but the IRS sees them as a personal celebration rather than a deductible event. Wedding expenses, including the venue, catering, flowers, photography, and attire, are personal costs and are not deductible on a federal tax return. Some people try to frame a wedding as a business event if clients or colleagues are invited, but mixing personal and business guests does not transform a wedding into a deductible business function. If you use a location as your wedding venue that is also legitimately tied to your business, there may be very limited exceptions in unusual circumstances. For most couples, there is simply no tax deduction for getting married.
