Yes — starting in 2023, standalone battery storage systems (not just solar-paired batteries) qualify for the 30% Residential Clean Energy Credit as long as the battery has a capacity of at least 3 kilowatt-hours. Previously, battery storage only qualified if it was charged exclusively by solar panels. Now, a battery system connected to the grid qualifies on its own. The credit covers the full installed cost including labor. Like the solar credit, it's non-refundable but carries forward to future years.
